The following is an essay about Asmara, capital of Eritrea, when was under Italian rule (from the last years of the XIX century until 1941).
In those year the city was nicknamed "Piccola Roma", because looked similar to one of the neighbourhoods of Rome.
The essay was written by Bruno D'Ambrosio for the University of Genova (Universita' Statale di Genova - Italia), Istituto di Geografia, under the supervision of professor Giuliani Balestrino.
